Defence and resilience

A remote decision rests on image age.

Jamming and congested networks turn delay into a tactical problem. The operator must know when the image stopped being valid.

Illustrative case study

A remote exercise

This is not a customer and not a flight that happened. It is a description of how this area would read if the image carried its age.

A training ground, an illustration

A unit trains control beyond line of sight. Every command is to carry the number of the frame it came from. After the exercise they ask how many commands rested on an old image.

In the example one network fails. The frame goes via the other. When neither is valid, Direct shows a neutral screen. A late command is not executed.

Operators rotate. The record says who saw which frame. This is not a weapon system and not resistance to every kind of jamming.

Command

It carries a frame number.

Outage

A neutral screen, not a frozen scene.

Debrief

The share of commands from an old image is visible.

A radio backup is not yet in the design.

Image age through the example

The chart requires JavaScript.

The chart is a simulation. Move the slowdown and see when the example stops being under the 50 ms target. The target is not a measured result.

Deployment schematic

Where everything stands and how the image travels

The schematic is not to scale and is not a design for a specific site. It shows where the drone is, which two networks carry the frame and where the decision is made.

Numbers in the schematic

  1. 1A training launch from a marked area.
  2. 2Zone Z: one network is jammed here in the exercise.
  3. 3The frame passes via the other network. The switch is logged.
  4. 4Platform ties a command to a frame number.
  5. 5When neither network is valid, Direct shows a neutral screen.
  6. 6Debrief: how many commands rested on an old image.

Symbols in the schematic

  • DDrone with AKIZU Brain
  • S1 · S2Two mobile networks at once
  • PAKIZU Platform: fleet and pack
  • OAKIZU Direct: operator and image state

Red and blue beacons: police, state, the military in training. Orange: everyone else. The blink is only on screen. Schematic, design. The list beside it explains the codes in the drawing. The beacon is a payload from another maker, not an AKIZU product.

Concrete case

Minute by minute

The same illustrative case as above, written out in time. The times are an example. It is not a record of a flight that happened.

  1. 09:00Briefing. The aim of the exercise is a command with a frame number.
  2. 09:20Launch. Two drones in the training area.
  3. 09:34In zone Z one network drops. The frame goes via the other.
  4. 09:36Both networks over the target. A neutral screen. A late command is not executed.
  5. 09:38The image returns to Valid. The operator continues.
  6. 10:30Debrief with the record: who saw which frame.

Use options

Everything it can be used for in this area

Each row is a separate use. The Parts column says which AKIZU parts it would involve. Status N is a design, C is a target, U is unknown.

01

The problem today

01

Jamming and outages

The link changes from second to second. An image that freezes without warning is dangerous.

02

Commands from an old image

If the operator reacts to an old image, the drone executes the command in a different situation than the one the operator saw.

03

Supply chain

In sensitive deployments it matters where the software comes from and where the data is.

04

Several operators, one image

If operators rotate, the record must say who saw which frame.

Without AKIZU and with AKIZU

The same situation, different information on the screen. Proposed behaviour, to be verified in a pilot.

02

How it would work

  1. ExerciseThe unit flies the drone remotely over two networks.
  2. Command protectionEvery command carries a frame number. The drone rejects a command based on an old image.
  3. OutageDirect shows a neutral screen with the reason.
  4. DebriefAfter the exercise you see how many commands came from an old image.
  5. HandoverPlatform logs the operator change without a gap in the command chain.

The flow is illustrative. AKIZU is in development.

03

Mission scenario

How many metres further the drone is than the image shows. Pick a scenario or set the speed and image age.

The interactive calculation requires JavaScript.

Scenario speeds are examples. 87.4 ms is the p99 measured internally over WiFi with a phone as transmitter, not on a drone.

05

Who works with it

01

Operator

Knows when the image stopped being valid; their commands are not executed in a different situation.

02

Commander

Sees which image the decisions rested on.

03

Instructor

Has numbers for the debrief after the exercise.

What we will measure in the pilot

  • Rejected late commands100 % caught C
  • Image age at commandrecorded for each N
  • Time in Valid≥ 95 % C

06

What you get after every flight

  • Number and share of rejected late commands
  • Image age at every command
  • Network switches and outages over time
  • Data stored as agreed with the operator
  • Who issued the command and from which frame

Questions about this area

FAQ →

What happens when the network fails?

The station does not show an old frame as current. When the age exceeds the deadline it switches to a neutral screen and shows the reason. We measured the switch internally within 2.72 ms.

Where will data be stored?

The target is data centres in the European Union. The customer sets the retention period for records and video.

Do I have to use AKIZU SIM?

Brain will have a nano-SIM slot. We plan AKIZU SIM as an option managed in AKIZU Platform. Terms for using other cards will be agreed with partners.

09

What the operator sees

The three image states in this area. Proposed behaviour, to be verified in a pilot.

Valid

The operator knows the command comes from a current image.

Reduced freshness

The command may still pass, but the panel says the margin is running out.

Unavailable

The drone does not execute a late command. The screen does not keep a frozen scene.

12

What we do not do in this area

Not a weapon system

AKIZU does not control weapons and does not design tactics.

Not resistance to every kind of jamming

Two networks are a design. A radio backup is not yet part of it.

European chain

A target for Brain and Platform, not a finished supplier audit.

A pilot in this area

A remote decision rests on image age.

We are looking for first partners. The application is pre-filled for this area.

In more detail

Before a meeting on an exercise

Remote practice needs a frame number on the command. It is not a weapon.

We ask how many commands today rest on an image whose age you do not know. That is a debrief question, not a question of armament.

We do not promise resistance to every kind of jamming. A radio backup is not in the design.

Bring to the meeting

  • Who issues the command.
  • Whether commands are logged.
  • What should happen when the image is not valid.

This is not

  • A weapon system.
  • Replace the crew.
  • Jamming as a service.
