FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
Short answers. We keep measurements, targets and plans apart.
01
Product and status
Is AKIZU a finished product?
No. AKIZU is in development. Today we have an internal image-age measurement: median 64.6 ms and p99 87.4 ms over WiFi, with a phone as transmitter. The hardware in the images is a pre-production visualisation.
What exactly is shown in the images?
Pre-production visualisations. The AKIZU Drone body and the AKIZU Brain housing are AKIZU designs. Starling 2 Max and the VOXL 2 computer are ModalAI products we build on. More: Products →
When will AKIZU be available?
According to plan: optical measurement in Q4 2026, the LET-1 target on a real drone in Q1 2027, the first paid pilot in Q3 2027 and licences with SIM for the first fleets in 2028. This is a plan, not a commitment. More: Roadmap →
How much will it cost?
We are not setting prices yet. Commercial terms will be agreed with pilot partners depending on configuration and scale of operation.
02
Technology
How does image age differ from latency?
Network latency is only part of the journey. Image age is the time from frame exposure on the drone to its display to the operator. VERA attaches the exposure time to every frame and the station verifies it before display. More: VERA technology →
What happens when the network fails?
The station does not show an old frame as current. When the age exceeds the deadline it switches to a neutral screen and shows the reason. We measured the switch internally within 2.72 ms.
Why 240 frames per second?
At 30 frames per second there are 33 ms between frames and the average wait for the next frame is about 17 ms. At 240 frames the gap is 4.2 ms and the wait about 2 ms. This is a calculation, not a measurement. More: Time budget →
How can image age be measured independently?
Optically: an instrument records a light signal in front of the drone camera and the same signal on the operator display. The difference is the real image age. We plan this measurement for Q4 2026.
Is VERA an open standard?
No. VERA is AKIZU’s own protocol. We share the detailed protocol plan with partners on request.
03
Networks and SIM
Which networks will AKIZU use?
LTE and 5G. The Brain Duo concept sends every frame through two operators at once. The 3GPP standard expects the network to recognise a drone in the air, so we plan AKIZU SIM cards with an aerial profile at the operator. More: AKIZU SIM →
Does it work without a mobile network?
The AKIZU design is built around LTE and 5G. According to the manufacturer, the Starling 2 Max base platform also supports Wi-Fi and Microhard. Our internal measurement was done over WiFi.
Do I have to use AKIZU SIM?
Brain will have a nano-SIM slot. We plan AKIZU SIM as an option managed in AKIZU Platform. Terms for using other cards will be agreed with partners.
04
Regulation and data
Does AKIZU replace a BVLOS authorisation?
No. BVLOS flights need an authorisation in the Specific category based on a SORA 2.5 risk assessment. AKIZU Platform is meant to give the operator an image-age record as evidence for that assessment. More: Solutions →
Where will data be stored?
The target is data centres in the European Union. The customer sets the retention period for records and video.
Does this website collect personal data?
No. The website uses no cookies or analytics and the fonts are hosted on it. The platform demo and login send and store nothing.
05
Partnership
How can I get involved?
We are looking for pilot partners in public safety, inspection and industry, measurement partners, mobile operators and drone manufacturers. More: Pilot programme →
Can I have the image age on my drone measured?
We plan to offer AKIZU Verify measurement once optical measurement is validated. If you are interested, write to us and we will put you on the early list.
Do you provide investor materials?
Yes, the investor presentation and business plan are available on request. More: Downloads →

On the numbers
Is a number on the site a promise?
No, unless it carries a Z mark and the conditions. Targets, plans and unknowns are marked. The internal median of 64.6 ms holds for Wi‑Fi and a phone as the transmitter, not for your route.
Is the beacon yours?
No. In the scenes it is a payload from another maker. The blink is only on screen.
Does the demo send data?
No. It remembers a flag in sessionStorage while the tab is open. It sends nothing.
When is the paid pilot?
The gate is the third quarter of 2027. Before it come optics, LET-1 on VOXL 2 and 5G stability. It is not an order date.
Does Direct replace the pilot?
No. It shows whether the image is valid. The decision stays with a person, and only in the Valid state.
